Mark Wahlberg’s “Deepwater Horizons” Rush Casting Call in Nola for Extras

The feature film “Deepwater Horizons” is in production in New Orleans and has a call out for paid extras to work on the film.

The film is seeking to cast local male extras to work  this week.  Central Casting is looking for men and women of any ethnicity between the ages of 20 and 59. This is a rush call and those applying must be prepared to be called in tonight or tomorrow morning.

Lionsgate, Participant Media and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are producing “Deepwater Horizon.”  The film details the 2010 explosion on the BP rig in the Gulf of Mexico that resulted in the biggest oil spill in U.S. history . The accident also caused the deaths of 11 workers and injuring 17 others. An estimated 3.19 million barrels of oil (133.9 million gallons) spewed into the Gulf of Mexico, destroying fisheries, choking wildlife and spoiling countless miles of wetlands and beaches.

Casting call for Deepwater Horizon in NOLA

Deepwater Horizon”  is filming in the NOLA area this spring/summer and will be hitting movie theaters on Sept. 30, 2016. The film is based on the 2011 New York Times article Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hour,”  by David Barstow, David Rohde and Stephanie Saul. Matthew Michael Carnahan is writing the script. According to the film’s IMDB page, the cast includes Dylan O’Brien, Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell , Gina Rodriguez and John Malkovich.

Wahlberg stars as the No. 2 manager on board the rig during the tragedy.  The film will show what happened on the doomed rig 48 hours before the explosion as well as the events that took place on the day of the disaster. It will also focus on the acts of heroism that occurred during and after the explosion as rescue crews worked to save the oil workers in the water.

    30 years in the oilfield and worked in the Gulf of Mexico for over 19 years, was a driller for 9 years out there. Have been in to blow outs while working out in the Gulf of Mexico as well, this is something personnel to me . Not many people understand what we do to get oil and gas and the total danger.
