Casting call for talent in South Carolina

Gabriele Cowperthwaite, director of the critically acclaimed “Blackfish”  documentary is working on a feature film titled “Megan Leavey“.  The project focuses on a female marine named Megan Leavey who went through a battle to save her marine service dog Rex, who was scheduled to be put down once completing his tour in Iraq.

Megan Leavey was part of the K9 bomb sniffing unit and worked side by side with her four legged partner Rex. After having served 2 tours in Iraq, the pair was wounded and Leavey was discharged from the marines leaving Rex in Iraq. Megan spent the next 5 years waiting for Rex to be discharged so that she may adopt him. However, she found herself in a fight to save his life when he was scheduled to be euthanized following his tour. Leavey ultimately was allowed to adopt him and he lived out the rest of his life my Megan’s side. Kate Mara is set to star as Megan Leavey in the biopic.

The movie’s casting directors need lots of military looking talent for the film which is shooting in the Charleston, SC area. The project has an immediate need for men who can play early 20’s and portray marine recruits. Talent applying for the roles must be open to receiving a military hair cut and the production will be paying some extra cash to the talent who are willing to let them cut their hair. Since the movie is filming in Charleston, South Carolina, please only apply if you are local to the area.

Okay fellas how does $145 for the day sound?

Along with increasing our age limits for recruits, we’ve added a $50 hair-cut bump (break down at the bottom of this post!!)

CHARLESTON, SC: LOOKING FOR MALES, ALL ETHNICITIES, AGES 17-32 (or who appear to be in their early 20s) TO PLAY RECRUITS ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 18TH.

Those submitting must be able to attend a fitting Monday, Oct 12th, Tue Oct 13th or Wed Oct 14th. You will received a $15.00 fitting bump.

If you have already been booked and given a hair bump, I will adjust it so that it is the appropriate amount***
Looking for some fellas, ages 17-32 (or who appear to be early 20s) who can portray recruits at their graduation. Those submitting must be willing to be clean shaven and have a regulation hair cut.

If you have to get your hair trimmed or cut we will give you a $50.00 bump, this means that you have to come to set on 10.18 with your hair as close as possible to regulation. Our Hair Department will not be able to give haircuts they will only be able to shape up guy’s hair.

The pay is a guaranteed $80 for up to 8 hours and time and a half for every hour that exceeds the eighth. Along with $15.00 for attending a fitting and $50.00 if you have to get your hair cut or trimmed.

CHARLESTON, SC: LOOKING FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN TO PLAY RECRUITS’ FAMILY MEMBERS ON SUNDAY OCT 18TH!! (Please submit all family in one email if you are submitting multiple family members)

We are looking for males and females, all ages, all ethnicities! It would be awesome to get some real military families in this group (so please share and recommend any you know.)

We would also like for everyone to be mindful that it will likely be a very early call time that morning (as early as 5am, but good news is we only have the location until close to 1pm.) With the early morning in mind we would love to try and keep kids ages at 8yrs old and up. However, if you have a younger children and feel they would be okay with that early morning then please still feel free to submit!

If you are under 16 years old, you MUST have an adult accompany you on the day of filming, so please submit them as well
