A new movie is about to begin production near the Atlanta area and the casting directors are seeking kids ages 5 to 10 to work as paid extras.
“In Dubious Battle” will be directed by James Franco and has a seriously star studded cast. Starring in the film are Franco, Bryan Cranston, Selena Gomez, Ed Harris, Robery Duvall, Vincent D’Onofrio, Josh Hutcherson, Christian Slater, Sam Shepard and Danny McBride. The film is set in the 1930s, so no modern hair styles. “In Dubious Battle” will be filming about an hour out of Atlanta in the Bostwick and Senoia areas.
In Dubious Battle is a 1936 novel by John Steinbeck. The central figure of the story is an activist for “the Party” (thought to be the communist party, though it is never specifically named in the novel) who is organizing a major strike by fruit pickers and looking to get more people involved in his cause. The book focuses on a fight between labor and capital in 1930?s California, a fictional area of California. “In Dubious Battle” explores themes that Steinbeck explored in future work as well, group behavior, social injustice, man’s inhumanity to man. Franco will play Jim Nolan, a man who gets involved in the movement and its organization.
Don’t have kids but still want a small part? You may have your chance as the film has released other casting calls as well. They are casting adults for to play farmers and townspeoaple as well as adult stand-ins too.
