Project Runway has a casting call out for teen designers
The hit fashion design competition will now be doing a teen edition and auditions are being held online nationwide. The show that finds up and coming design stars is now on the lookout for the next generation of fashion design.
Does your kid have an eye for fashion? Here is a great chance to get their visions seen on national TV. “Project Runway Junior” is looking for the hottest teen design talent. They are now casting teens between the ages of 14 and 17 to compete on the show. Submissions are being accepted now and the deadline to apply is quickly approaching. All applications must be in by the 18th of this month. Filming will take place this summer so it should not interfere with school.
The producers of the Emmy nominated fashion design series “Project Runway” are now working on a teen edition and are on a nationwide search for teen talent. Are you the next big name in fashion? If you believe you… or your teen is, read on….
Teen designers cast for the show will get a once in a lifetime opportunity. The winner of the show will not only get national exposure, but also receive cash prizes and a scholarship to the prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Applications and portfolios are now being accepted online. See the below flier for further details on how to get your designs seen by the show’s producers for consideration.
Project Runway Junior Applications – Teens must have the following in order to apply for the show:
- A “virtual portfolio” of your work (include as many of the following as they apply):
- Photos of at least 3 but no more than 10 of your completed designs (preferably shown on a model or dress form), marked with their dates of completion; include front, side, and back views; show the looks that best represent you as a designer. Please save each photo with the file name of the description of the garment, and the date the garment was completed. For example: Full_Length_Blue_Gown_2-13-2015.jpg
- Images of detail work (e.g. beading, ruching, pleating, interesting seaming) that you have produced, if applicable.
- Images of your patterns if you work from them; some should be for the outfits pictured.
- Images of your sketches.

I’m interested in getting an audition for my daughter on project runway junior. She’s an amazing artist and very creative, only thing is she just has drawings of her designs so far. I don’t know what direction I should go in…any suggestions?
