An injured immigrant father must find a way to get enough money to buy a dress for his daughter’s upcoming Quinceanera. Having recently injured his leg, Esteban being an illegal immigrant is unable to get any type of job. To add to the stress his daughter Maria has her Quinceanera coming up and he has to get her a dress. Esteban attempts to get a day laborer job but continues to be unsuccessful and with his wife Carmen berating him at home and his daughter choosing the dress and getting a quote from the seamstress – the pressure is mounting. Esteban is driven to desperation and is forced to make a decision that will deeply affect his morals.

CARLOS | Male | Hispanic | Age: 30 – 40 | Role Type: Supporting
A talkative, honest man that Esteban helps out; has a family of his own and faces the same struggle that Esteban faces; through fate, Carlos ends up playing a big role in helping Esteban when the time comes. NOTE: Must speak Spanish fluently. Lines will be in Spanish.

CARMEN | Female | Hispanic | Age: 35 – 50 | Role Type: Supporting
A temperamental, no nonsense woman; tired of seeing her husband, Esteban, fail to provide for the family; truly believes that he isn’t trying, and because of this constantly berates him; what Carmen doesn’t realize is that she may have gone too far in pushing her husband. NOTE: Must speak Spanish fluently. Lines will be in Spanish.

CAROLINA | Female | Hispanic | Age: 40 – 60 | Role Type: Supporting
A seamstress and the owner of a local dress shop; friends with Carmen, and offers to give a good deal on a dress for Maria; through talks with Carmen, she has grown to dislike Esteban, and sees him as a man not willing to do what it takes to provide for his family. NOTE: Must speak Spanish fluently. Lines will be in Spanish.

CHUPA | Male | Hispanic | Age: 30 – 40 | Role Type: Supporting
Esteban’s closest friend and owner of a local barbershop; easygoing and loves having fun; his barbershop has been successful as of late, and he’s been doing well for himself; doesn’t fully understand Esteban’s situation, but is willing to help if he can. NOTE: Must speak Spanish fluently. Lines will be in Spanish.

ESTEBAN | Male | Hispanic | Age: 35 – 50 | Role Type: Leading
A quiet, introverted man, with deep love for his family; a recent injury has left him with a limp in his right leg, and has stopped him from getting any type of work; forced to keep an act for his daughter, he only wants to give her the best; pushed to the brink in order to find a way to get his daughter a Quinceanera dress. NOTE: Must speak Spanish fluently. Lines will be in Spanish.

HEAD LABORER | Male | Caucasian | Age: 25 – 35 | Role Type: Supporting
A bad-tempered abusive man; in charge of picking up the day laborers; enjoys ridiculing and messing with the workers. NOTE: Must speak Spanish fluently. Lines will be in Spanish.

MARIA | Female | Hispanic | Age: 14 – 18 | Role Type: Supporting
A pleasant, humble girl that has her important Quinceanera coming up; understands her father is trying, and is sympathetic; at the same time, she dreams of having the perfect Quinceanera. NOTE: Must speak Spanish fluently. Lines will be in Spanish.
