Open Casting Call Coming Up for “Vikings” in Dublin

By | November 12, 2015

Vikings Season 4 will be holding an open casting call this weekend and is looking for racial diversity.

The series has been filming the new season since last April and production will continue into December. The show initially announced that they would be using 1000’s of paid extras and are still looking for more. The show’s casting directors are in need of multi-cultural talent. Currently they need 100’s of people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, Asian, South American and Mediterranean backgrounds. The new season will have the Vikings travelling and seeing new cultures. The open casting call is for extras to play the people they encounter, not Vikings. You must live in Ireland in order to be considered.

Recently news came out that “Vikings”  season 4 may be the last one for the beloved King Ragnar Lothbrok character. Rumor has it that actor Travis Fimmel will be leaving the show and moving on to big screen projects. Fimmel is set to star in the upcoming “Warcraft”  movie.  Master Herald reports that  “Vikings”  showrunner Michael Hirst said that Season 4 will see a shifting of focus on the Vikings. Seems that focus will shift off of Ragnar’s adventures to Ragnar’s sons, particularly Bjorn. The season 4 teaser seems to confirm that. TheVikings”  TV series has been a solid hit with viewers and the Ragnar character has been instrumental in that.

In the season 3 finale, Ragnar wasn’t looking too hot. Showrunner Michael Hirst stated, “It’s very important to know that he’s not only sick; he’s hovering between life and death. So that impacts hugely on the beginning of season 4, which we’re working on now. It’s a big story point. It’s very important that Ragnar is weakened, ill and hovering between life and death when we come back for season 4.”

There is some good news for “Vikings”  fans. During the San Diego Comic Con, Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha) commented that the next season will be extended with “double the amount” of Vikings episodes to air in 2016. The show will also be introducing new characters including an Asian woman named Yidu who will grab Ragnars attention.

The open casting call will be held this Saturday in the Dublin area. Please see the notice below for all the details.

Here’s some more info about the open call:

The Open Casting is a very quick process. We will give each person an application form when they arrive to fill out. We will then take a photo of each person there. It is very informal. You can come along anytime between 1030am and 4.30pm, no appointment necessary.

The whole process should only take about 20 minutes per person. Casting is open to children and adults of all ages; Under 16 year olds must be accompanied by a parent or a chaperone. Following the casting, we will phone people to give dates of work and ask that they come to our studio for a costume fitting prior to the day of filming. If people have already attended our open casting earlier this year then there is no need to reapply, as you will be automatically considered. This is a very specific open casting and you should only come along if you fit the groups denoted above. You must live in Ireland and have a pps number.

Vikings”  season 4 will premiere on History Channel in February 2016.

If we are unable to attend the casting, could we send photos and a cv to be considered?
