Hip Hop Dance Auditions in Chicago on “Empire” TV Show

The new FOX drama “Empire” is looking to cast some hip hop dancers and auditions are coming up Monday.

The show’s casting directors are seeking dancers between the ages of 18 and 30 to appear in an episode of the show.

Empire” just premiered on FOX this month but is still in production for season 1. “Empire” is an hour-long drama that focuses on a family run music business. The series is created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong (“Lee Daniels The Butler”) and stars Terrence Howard as the music mogul and the family patriarch. Also starring in “Empire” are Taraji P. Henson, Bryshere Gray, Jussie Smollett and Gabourey Sidibe. and Taraji P. Henson.

Empire” focuses on a successful hip hop record label. Terrence Howard plays Lucious, an ex street thug who turned to music and created Empire Records. Lucious is suffering from a fatal illness and must now find his successor. He has 3 sons, but none of them are ready to run the business. Adding to the family drama is the ex wife. She took the fall for Lucious years back. She w is out of prison and wants her piece of the pie as well.

The show airs on FOX Wednesday nights.

Casting Call! Actor and actress needed for student film for IAFT here in Las Vegas to shoot on Feb. 13, 14, and 15.

Auditions will be held and IAFT 6363 S. Pecos Rd. Suite 103 Las Vegas, NV 89074 on Jan. 26 and 27 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

A short film about a woman turned private detective whose son was kidnapped 20 years ago. A young man walks into her office to ask for help in finding his missing daughter. During the course of the investigation, she discovers that the man she is helping may actually be her long lost son.

The film will be shot on high end cinema quality cameras like the Black Magic and Sony C-100. Also using professional lighting equipment. Must be able to bring your own wardrobe. Since this is a student film, it will be no pay. You will be given footage for your reel and craft service will be provided.

Cast:

Laura, Caucasian woman age 32-46, sad, lonely, depressed, and in despair. Has not gotten over the loss of her child. Talks to the picture of her son as if her were still around. Dresses in t-shirt, slacks or cargo pants and hiking boots.

Nathan, Caucasian man age 23-28, frantic and worried over the loss of daughter. He is a young, middle class single father with an office who lost his wife in an accident. Now worried he has no family left after a falling out with his own adoptive parents and missing daughter. Wears button down shirt and slacks as if he worked an office job.

When:

-Time commitment for regular shows is 4-6 hours including a pre-show rehearsal.
-No weekly rehearsals required, you rehears only when you are scheduled to work.
-Weekly show location is at the Marriott on Guardian Dr, in Durham.
-Private shows booked all over the Greater Raleigh-Durham area, travel stipends are added when locations are more than 20 miles from the Marriott location.
– Casting rotates depending on actor availability collected & scheduled on a 1 month basis.

2 hours, audition consisting of improv games.

Project Start Date:
– For those hired there will be a cast training on 1/30/15 & 1/10/15 with the Grand Opening, happening on 1/31/15.

Casting For Film Project: On Borrowed Time

Independent Short Film “On Borrowed Time” will be produced by MasterFilms Productions, LLC. The project will film over 4 days and is currently scheduled to film April 23-26, 2015. “On Borrowed Time” is written, directed and produced by Mary B. McDaniel. Assistant producer on the project, Jessica Wynn.

The film focuses on the Milltown family– Marian, Emerson and their 7-year-old grandson. There were two other members of the family. Danielle, Justin’s mother, who joined the military and later killed in the line of duty while serving on a tour in Afghanistan and Preston who committed suicide, just two years after, on the same day his sister died. ?After the deaths of their children, Marian and Emerson have not only taken on the responsibility of Danielle’s son, ?but have become deeply troubled and emotional detached from the outside world. ?The story is told through Marian, throughout this day, May 19, 2012, the anniversary date of Danielle and Preston’s death, as they try to conquer the uphill battle of acceptance and closer with the help of a family friend who happened to be a priest. ?The only thing is that Marian’s trust in God is vague right now, but at some point she knows there’s a need for strength to continue caring for her grandson.

Character breakdown:

Danielle Milltown – Female. 24-year-old at the time of her death, 19- years- old, when she joined the military right out of high school. Danielle is a beautiful young woman. Her ambition and determination to be something more then a single mother was driven by the love and affection for her son, who she had early in life.

Marian Milltown– 40- 45 The wife of Emerson, an earthy and graceful, beautiful woman. She represents the family as a whole. Her faith is strong, but it’s tainted by the innocence loss. She is troubled that no mother should have to bury her children.
Its hard to move on with everyday living, including taking care of her grandson. Its hard sometime to even look at him because he reminds her so much of Danielle. Marian also feels daughters ambitions and determinations is what drove her daughter to her death. She somewhat blames her for all this.

Emerson Milltown – 40- 48 The husband of Marian and father of Preston and Danielle. He spends most of his time blaming himself and trying to find away to deal through the grievance process. He distant himself from his wife and grandson, by way of entertaining himself, reading the daily newspaper or sitting in front of a computer writing love letters to his dead children daily.

Justin Milltown- Male. 7 years old. Sweet and Innocent. He’s Danielle’s son, who she had her junior year of high school.

Preston Miltown– Male. 19 years old. Preston only appears in Marian’s memory, montage. He was the youngest child of Marian and Emerson. He Committed Suicide, two years after his sister died.

Priest– 35-45 A relative referred him to the family. He’s good with those who have loss a loved one.

Stage Right to hold auditions for Godspell

Stage Right in O’Hara Township is announcing a casting call for 5 men and 5 women of ALL ages for their Spring production. Auditions will be held at Boyd Community Center, 1220 Powers Run Rd., Pittsburgh, 15238 on Sunday, February 1 from 2–4 p.m. and Monday, February 2 from 7–9 p.m.

Please prepare the following for auditions:
1. a two minute monologue

The show will run April 23–25 & April 30–May 2, 2015, at Boyd Community Center in O’Hara Township, as part of Stage Right’s 50th Season! This production of Godspell will be stage directed by Lora Oxenreiter with Benjamin Bliss as music director, and produced by Bill Ivins.

Synopsis:
Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John-Michael Tebelak, composed of various musical parables from The Gospel According to Matthew. Jesus Christ recruits a group of followers and teaches them various lessons through song and dance. Toward the end of the second act, the show begins to follow a more linear narrative as Jesus is betrayed by Judas and eventually crucified.

About rehearsals:
The first read-through is tentively scheduled for Sunday, February 22. Rehearsals will be scheduled according to actors availability, and generally run Monday thru Thursday evenings from 7–9 p.m. Every effort will be made to create rehearsal schedules which work around actors prior commitments and typically will allow for smaller roles to not be at all rehearsals.
