Pittsburgh Theater – Singers / Actors for “Godspell”

Stage Right to hold auditions for Godspell

Stage Right in O’Hara Township is announcing a casting call for 5 men and 5 women of ALL ages for their Spring production. Auditions will be held at Boyd Community Center, 1220 Powers Run Rd., Pittsburgh, 15238 on Sunday, February 1 from 2–4 p.m. and Monday, February 2 from 7–9 p.m.

Actors interested in auditioning should email Bill Ivins at stagerightboyd1@gmail.com or call 412-228-0566 to schedule an audition appointment, although walk-ins are also welcome.

Please prepare the following for auditions:
1. a two minute monologue
2. 16–18 bars of a song (and have sheet music,
3. a headshot and résumé.
(If you don’t have a headshot and resume, don’t worry – we can take your photo and you can fill in your experience on our audition form.)

The show will run April 23–25 & April 30–May 2, 2015, at Boyd Community Center in O’Hara Township, as part of Stage Right’s 50th Season! This production of Godspell will be stage directed by Lora Oxenreiter with Benjamin Bliss as music director, and produced by Bill Ivins.

Synopsis:
Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John-Michael Tebelak, composed of various musical parables from The Gospel According to Matthew. Jesus Christ recruits a group of followers and teaches them various lessons through song and dance. Toward the end of the second act, the show begins to follow a more linear narrative as Jesus is betrayed by Judas and eventually crucified.

About rehearsals:
The first read-through is tentively scheduled for Sunday, February 22. Rehearsals will be scheduled according to actors availability, and generally run Monday thru Thursday evenings from 7–9 p.m. Every effort will be made to create rehearsal schedules which work around actors prior commitments and typically will allow for smaller roles to not be at all rehearsals.
