Black Transwoman actor needed to read Laverne Cox’s speech “On Bullying and Violence Against Transwomen of Color” for a large community event.
On March 7, 2015, in honor of International Women’s Day, Women’s Voices Worldwide, Inc. (www.womensvoicesworldwide.org) will host our third annual “Celebration of Speech” extravaganza. Inside the Sanctuary of the First Churches in downtown Northampton, MA more than 60 speakers and performers will present a day-long series of speeches each addressing the critical need for women’s voices: Hand selected performers will re-enact historic women’s speeches from around the world in full period costumes. Local girls (as young as 12) and women who have been competitively selected though our open call process will deliver their own original speeches. A small number of featured speakers will provide inspiration and hope for the future. Throughout the day we will also present a number of female singing groups, poets, and musicians.

Interested actors should inquire ASAP via email. We are committed to offering the role to a self-identified trans woman of color.
