UNCSA Film – Gertie Gunther Knits a Stitch – Extras
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Type: Student Films
I’m Nate King, Extras Coordinator for the UNCSA Third Year Film, “Gertie Gunther Knits A Stitch”. The climax of our story takes place at a high speed knitting competition where the elderly compete intensely to stitch their names into knitting legend. That’s where we will need quite a few extras, ages 50-80 to play Gertie’s peers, and extras of any age to play their families.
“Gertie Gunther Knits a Stitch” is about, Gertie Guther, a 65 year old woman who is dissatisfied with her life of knitting in front of the tv as her husband, Vernon, watches televised racing. Recognizing the skill she’s built up, a group of her friends prompt her to enter a high speed knitting competition that will challenge both her and Vernon and lift them out of the hum-drum routine they built for themselves.
We shoot the weekend of January 23-25. I will keep this post updated, but as of now we are planning to shoot the scene of the competition on Sunday.
If you are interested in participating, or know someone else that might be, please contact me.
Thanks for reading,
Nate
