Voices In Flow is a new vocal ensemble dedicated to exploring music making as a form of mindful meditation.

We are a primarily a cappella ensemble that features vocal improvisation and an eclectic repertoire of music from around the world, including originals. We will stage live performances, record produced tracks, and also lead musical workshops. These workshops will include visiting schools and handing out instruments such as claves, maracas etc. to encourage the students to make music with us and also working with adults sponsoring weekend retreats in which experienced singers will audition to come sing with us over a 2-day weekend workshop culminating with a performance at the end. In all these projects, our focus will be on the joy of making music together as an experience of connecting with the senses, connecting with each other and engaging in the present moment. Auditions for VIF will be held on Wednesday November 11th 7-9pm in midtown Manhattan. Please email voicesinflow@gmail.com to arrange for an audition time. Singers of all voice parts, including beatboxers, are encouraged to apply. This will be a semi-pro group with some paid gigs.
Some criteria that will make you a good fit with VIF:
— you are passionate about creating music and sharing that experience with others
— you enjoy performing as a soloist and also blending with an ensemble
–you appreciate a wide range of musical genres and styles, including a strong love for vocal improv.
–you want to devote some of your time to challenging yourself musically but you also want some opportunity to just relax and playfully sing
–you are available and willing to commit to rehearse weekly on Wednesday evenings in midtown Manhattan
–you currently have or would like to have a regular meditation practice.
