Bonzo and Muttma

Location: Boston, MA

Type: Student Films

Seeking three actors for an experimental short film produced by the Harvard Film Center and supervised by an award-winning filmmaker.

Set in a timeless, former industrial town, the film is an intimate modern fairy-tale about childhood, friendship, and disillusion. Synopsis: Bonzo and Muttma have been occupying an ugly university building for as long as he can remember. Now, as a new populist Chancellor promises the building’s demolition, protests outside reach fever pitch – and the duo’s whole way of life comes under threat.

Running time approximately ten minutes. Actors should be happy to sign a media release form to allow the film to enter the film festival circuit. The film will be screened at the Carpenter Center of Visual Arts on Apr. 29. Travel and meals provided.

SEEKING TALENT

Bonzo (Lead): Male, 6-15, All Ethnicities
Imaginative, full of spirit, fiercely protective of Muttma; wears eye-shadow and a fairy dress; when his sweet, fairytale world is interrupted by the Chancellor, Bonzo is left devastated by the prospect that he might lose Muttma forever; some dialogue, but in large part the role will be physical and non-verbal.

Muttma (Lead): Female, 35-55, All Ethnicities
independent, artistic and occasionally eccentric woman who lives on the fringes of society; a warm and loving mother figure to Bonzo.

Chancellor (Supporting): Male, 40-75, All Ethnicities
Fairy-tale villain in suit, tie and fedora; gives a hyperbolic and demagogic public speech announcing the demolition of Bonzo and Muttma’s home.
