TITLE: #FF FOUNDING FATHERS

TOPIC: Constitutional Interpretation

GENRE: Scripted Comedy

DIRECTOR: GILLIAN BARNES

SHOOT DATE(S): Two days, week of April 18th, 2016, New York (exact date TBD)

RATES: Non-union, digital rate

Short Synopsis: 3 ‘founding fathers’ descend from heaven right into a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) session, and field questions about the Constitution via Skype.

Character: (3) founding fathers, think Jefferson, Adams, Washington. Men aged 35-65, any ethnicity, with strong comedic ability. We need either people who can play a boorish domineering type, or people who can pull off the intellectually obtuse/absent-minded professor type. Like the hit Broadway show “Hamilton”, we are open to casting against type.

Character: Anna, aged 20-25. Earnest, and bright- Pollyanna type. Any race. Anna hosts the AMA session.

TITLE: 21 K Street

TOPIC: Political Lobbying

GENRE: Scripted/Improv Comedy

DIRECTOR: GILLIAN BARNES

SHOOT DATE(S): Two days, week of April 18th, 2016, New York (exact date TBD)

RATES: Non-union, digital rate

A piece of mock investigative journalism that seeks to examine the influence of lobbyists on the political system. Our lead character is one part Vice Reporter, one part under-informed pain in the ass. As he leads us through a series of Daily Show style interviews with actual lobbyists, and to-camera walk and talks along the infamous “K Street,” we learn a surprising and informative lesson voters need to know: lobbying and the role of money in politics is not as black and white as it seems.

Character: Detective, aged 25-30 who has the range to play melodramatic, and is inherently goofy and awkward. Physically awkward in some way. Male or female.

TITLE: NOPE THE VOTE

TOPIC: One Vote Matters

GENRE: Scripted Comedy

DIRECTOR: Nathan Morris

Shoot Date(s): 2 days, week of April 18th, New York City

Rate: Non-union digital rate

Our flashy, slick campaign spokesman walks-and-talks his way through the merits of not voting, convincing an army of potential non-voters why they should leave government alone! Because after all, who really wants all the benefits and protections government provides? (Answer: of course we do!) So in the end, the message of “vote!” drowns out the growing cries of “don’t vote!”, and the campaign backfires. The message becomes crystal clear: one vote does matter — because with the multiplier effect, it can help set agendas, create mandates, and legitimize the will of the people.

Character: Slick Salesperson. A 30-50 year old Caucasian man. He is dreamboat born with a silver spoon in his mouth, our smug spokesperson is charismatic and engaging and importantly believable. Our ‘facts’ should be delivered in a forthright tone with conviction, It never occurs to him he might be wrong. With a machine gun delivery at times he’ll bamboozle the audience clearly lacking self-awareness. The ability to state the absurd with a straight face and a good sense of comic timing is vital. Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin)from 30 Rock is a great reference point.

Character: Jose. A nice looking, bright, inquisitive 18 year old Latino. Clean cut and bright looking, Jose is sometimes a bit naïve, he’s learning to think for himself. Jose is caught off guard by the quick talking spokesperson and is swept along with the excitement but throughout the film Jose learns and realizes he must stand up to the spokesperson. A good sense of comic ability is important.

TITLE: ROAD TRIP – SUPERDELEGATE

TOPIC: Political Parties

GENRE: Scripted/Improv Comedy

DIRECTOR: Kemp Baldwin

Shoot Dates: 2 days, week of April 25th, 2016 (with 2 more films shooting in May)

RATE: Non-union, digital rate

Two young, confident, Broad City-type millennials may be frustrated with politics, but they still love their country. They set out to rediscover America via the most American of American traditions: a GREAT AMERICAN ROAD TRIP! In the first installment of a three part series, an unlikely run-in with a real-life Superdelegate — who, to their surprise, mysteriously has a larger say in our democracy — teaches them the merits, and the pitfalls, of our traditional two-party political system.

Character: ALICE: (21) She’s the weird, say-whatever-she-wants one of the group – think Ilana Glazer from Broad City. She’s bit more of a stoner with hip, quirky taste. She’s a little more spacey and silly and a lot more far out than Hadley. She’s disenchanted with the political process because she’s never believed in it to begin with.

Character: HADLEY: (21) She’s somewhat buttoned up than Alice. If there was a conservative one in this group, she’d be it, but only this group – think Abbi Jacobson from Broad City. But she’s equally disenchanted. She’s little more reserved but definitely not a nerd – just nerdier than Alice. Alice’s antics sometimes make her nervous but she usually can be convinced to go along.

OVERALL
These actresses must be charming, funny, and smart (even when they sometimes appear to be a bit clueless). The audiences must want to be best friends with these two immediately. The actresses must be able to improvise off the script, each other and our non-actors (delegates, debate coaches, etc). The best-case scenario is that we cast a preexisting comedy duo to capture their natural chemistry and comedic shorthand. These actresses should find each other funny and feed off of that, which will invite the audience in.
