K: The Rise and Fall of the New York Club Kids
Location: Denver, Colorado
Type: Theater
Pandemic Collective, a non-profit horror theatre company in Denver, is horrified to announce auditions for “K: The Rise and Fall of the New York Club Kids.”
Play Description: Michael Alig and his band of party monsters dominated the New York club scene from the late 80’s through the 90’s. Known for their outrageous costumes, flagrant drug use and murderous disposition; these urban outlaws, known for hosting illegal parties in McDonald’s dining rooms to subway cars, drew catastrophic amounts of unsavory attention that ultimately led to the toppling of their empire. The performance will take place in Milk Bar on Broadway, and the play will be highly immersive, interactive and sensational.
We are looking to cast the following roles:
JAMES ST JAMES, 20’s – 30’s, A burnt-out socialite celebutante, and the best frenemy of Michael Alig. He is calculating and desperate for attention, yet unblinkingly honest. Dark, witty and a Club Kid Everyman.
CLUB KIDS, A Greek chorus of dancers and wildcards of various ages, all young. All dressed to the nines. We are looking for performers with dance or movement experience. These roles have minimal lines, but the part they play in the Club scene is crucial.
Auditions will be held on Sunday April 3rd from noon to 2 pm at the Avenue 8 at Mayfair, (5701 E 8th Avenue,) in Denver. Actors auditioning for James will be asked to read from the script. Actors auditioning for Club Kids will be asked to read from the script as well, and will also be asked to move to music. Sides and copies of the script are available upon request if you send us an email at pandemic@pandemiccollective.org, and all roles are paid. The first read of the script will be on April 11th, and rehearsals will occur during the week in the evenings, with a slight possibility of weekend rehearsals. Tech rehearsals will be on May 9th and 10th, and performances will be from May 11th to the 14th at 7:30 pm. Actors who will be reading for James must be available for the entire rehearsal process, and actors auditioning for Club Kid roles must be able to come to both tech rehearsals, performances (of course!) and two to three rehearsals before tech.
