Auditions for Lead Roles and Supporting Cast for Student Film in NY / Tri-state Area

New York & Tristate Area indie / student film project seeks cast.

Untitled student full feature film (170 Minutes) is holding auditions in the NY area to fill a variety of lead roles and supporting roles. The film will be submitted to film festivals and all roles are non-paid.

“During the strife of a fading past, seven friends take part in a hallucinogenic experiment that escalates into a labyrinth of self discovery, self destruction and circumstance.”

This production centers around contemporary urban culture, and the effects of an event, circumstance or person, onto another, which cascades cyclically throughout present society. Elucidating the complex personalities and perceptions of individuals, masking yet preserving a simplistic ideal of unified existence. Taking the audience into the circumstances and ultimatums of each character, to experience yet see the very expressions of human nature, time dilation, and duality, as they are in realistic scenarios.

LEAD CHARACTERS:

ATHAN: Athan is a reserved and introverted young man, his small conversations and subliminal understandings of the rest become slowly apparent through his reactions, all adding to this overall suspense and mystery that surrounds his circumstances. He is extremely moral and driven by a self formed philosophy that changes during the progression of his experiences.

JASPER: Jasper is a young black male who carries himself nonchalantly. He’s artsy, loves worn and old clothing. Usually indifferent and disinterested, when it comes to circumstances. Jasper is generally soft spoken and liked by all others. He falls in love with a beautiful girl named, Elli.

CHARLIE: Charlie is a self explorer. His father died three years ago, and ever since he tried running from it all. Alone, he spends his time writing songs and searching for love in whatever is left of the natural environment around him.

ELLI: Elli is a bubbly romantist, an animals rights activist, and a contemporary artist. However she’s incredibly compulsive and suffers with severe self esteem issues in wake of a deep traumatic past. She has recurring and vicious conflicts with Jesse, her sister.

JESSE: Jesse is a surrealist painter, mellow and generally easy going, she keeps a strong masculine undertone to her sensitive feminity. Her suppressed rage echoes at times, especially when fighting with her sister, Elli. Jesse is deeply repressing her passionate desires, as she falls into an affair with Mia.

LUCY: Lucy is in a “Bonnie & Clyde” relationship with Luka, enabling his illegal activities, yet constantly haunted by his previous infidelity. She’s eccentric, desperately using her false smiles as a sword and shield. Lucy is lost in a constant cycle of beginning to benefit herself, amidst monotonous self destruction.

LUKA: Luka is a rebel, he abides only with his own definition of ideals or morals, and although unfavorable in his decisions, he believes deeply in a causation to his very chaotic existence. Therefore he acts as if fate has enslaved him as a baneful individual, taking what he wants, and doing what he wants, with an arguable perception that all things happen for a reason, even to the people has hurt, stolen from, or terrorized. Luka was in multiple gangs throughout his entire life, and dropped out of High School at 17, despite being the most intelligent of his class. Now all he has is his best-friend, Kaiden, whom he’s known all his life. He pledges loyalty to Kaiden as if they share blood.

RAHMAN: Rahman is confidently pursuing a high ambition to make a new pharmaceutical drug, experimenting with his friends the potentials of psilocybin, the compound found in hallucinogenic mushrooms. He proposes the group eat mushrooms
together to experience their potentials and record vital data for his research. Rising from the ashes of a dead love affair, struggling to stand and change the World as we know it.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS:

NATALIE: Natalie is a carefree leader, with a huge heart, expressing immense unconditional love to the people around her. Struggling with her own mental illness, three years ago she opened her mother’s old home into an oasis for abused, homeless, or sick women. Alongside her King, Anthony, she reigns in this Palace, filled with female misfits.

MIA: Mia’s a young and desperate mother, sheltered by Natalie’s Kingdom, after being kicked out by the baby’s father, she is lost in the responsibilities of survival and nurturing her newborn son. Mia is free spirited, and free flowing; neutrally accepting things as they are, and appear to be. She becomes infatuated with, Jesse, upon meeting her.

DAHLIA: Dahlia is an independent and vulgar Hispanic female. She spends her nights bar hopping and hooking up with strangers, yet takes a freedom of choice to explore her own sensuality.

IVY: Ivy a traditional Jamaican, her body language is explosive and she loves to dance, her voice is powerful and loud with a mellifluous accent. She’s the newest to Natalie’s Palace, leaving her boyfriend who battered her every night in a drunken rage.

KAIDEN: Kaiden grew up alongside Luka since they were seven years old. Luka was the only one there throughout his sister’s murder, at 13. His devotion to Natalie, his Queen, is unparalleled, living in this kingdom filled with beautiful ladies, and yet he never touches them, not once.

KIONI: Kioni is an old friend of Athan and Rahman. A very spiritual girl, she’s keen with her crystals and meditations, always inquiring about visions and hallucinations during meditation and psychedelic trips. She and her friends surviveA off of stolen funds from private corporations, and selling psychedelics and hallucinogens.
