Auditions in Tampa, Speaking Roles in Horror Movie

By | July 6, 2016

Cold Dead Hands Feature Film

Location: Tampa, Florida

Type: Film

Character-driven horror/thriller feature film seeking diverse, non-traditional ensemble cast, directed by Lynne Hansen, based on a forthcoming novel by four-time Bram Stoker Award nominee Jeff Strand. It’s about a group of strangers who are trapped in a walk-in freezer during a terrorist attack on a grocery store.

All ethnicities strongly encouraged. Character actors with theater experience a plus. Must have strong dramatic chops, but also need a good sense of comedic timing. Don’t be afraid to take risks with your interpretation of the character.

Prefer actors living in the Tampa Bay area. Lodging and transportation will NOT be provided. Actors must be able to stay in the Tampa Bay area during filming.

Email CDHCasting@gmail.com with resume, headshot, and reel or monologue. Subject line should read ROLE – YOUR NAME. (Example: BARRY – JOE SMITH) Select candidates will be asked to submit a video audition. In-person callbacks will be Saturday, July 16th, also in the Tampa Bay Area.

Available Roles:

Barry – 40’s to 50’s. A weary average guy who is determined to survive by taking charge of a bad situation, all the while acting like he doesn’t really want to be in charge. Think Dante from Clerks if he were 25 years older, sold insurance, and had his arm ripped open by a terrorist wielding a broken bottle.

Marge – 40’s to 50’s. Used to running the show, though she pretends that’s not her thing. A reluctant hero.

Vanessa – 20’s to 30’s. A petite woman who is prone to tears because she’s been separated from her husband and young daughter.

Jonathan – Early 20’s-40’s. Wired and sadistic and not the sharpest crayon in the box.

Trevor – 70’s. A frail, elderly black man with health problems.

Chad – Early 20’s. Nervous and not all that bright.

Minnie – 20’s to 30’s. A fit, no-nonsense Air Force servicewoman on vacation.

Syllabus – 30’s to 40’s. A creepy fanboy who probably lives in his mom’s basement.

Dana – 20’s to 50’s. A heavy set social worker, dressed for a night on the town.

Mr. Anderson – Late 20’s to 40’s. Aloof, domineering, condescending to women.

Mrs. Anderson – Late 20’s to 40’s. Used to being told what to do, but can hold her own.

Gary – Early 20’s-30’s. From the shallow end of gene pool, but stubborn.

Pete – 6 to 10, but appears 6. Small and shy, he cries easily.
