We All Fall Down
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Type: Student Films
Fire Escape Films is a long-running student organization at The University of Chicago. We are currently beginning casting for our winter semester films.
Plot Synopsis:
Jerry is very pleased with the highly structured life he leads. His lifestyle has worked out so well in fact that Jerry has decided to enter a program that organizes his death as well. What’s so bad about wanting some control?
“We All Fall Down” is a film about structure. It addresses both the things we can control and the recognition that some things are just out of our hands. The goal of our film is to explore what would happen if we tried to exert control over the most uncontrollable aspect of life: death.
LOOKING TO CAST-
Jerry (mid-twenties): Likes structure, but he’s not uptight. Though he is a bit awkward, he’s very comfortable with his life, and it has given him enough fulfillment that he feels ready to end it on a high note.
Carol (mid to late twenties/early 30s): Carol is Jerry’s “ASHES” counselor and is helping him make his transition from alive to dead; She takes her job seriously, but is still trying to prove herself and often compensates with unbridled perkiness/enthusiasm.
Pizza Guy/Girl (early twenties/late teens, not gender specific): Could have stepped off the set of The Big Lebowski; relaxed, free-thinking, has no concept of time.
Jerry’s Boyfriend (mid to late twenties: )Kind, supportive, up for involving fruit in the bedroom.
Jerry’s Mother(40s/50s): Classic suburban mom, very proud of her son.
