Casting Small Recurring Roles on “Hidden Figures” Starring Tariji P. Henson

“Hidden Figures” also called “To The Moon and Back” is now filming in the Atlanta area and casting recurring extras in the area.

The upcoming movie focuses on African American scientists who helped launch the first American into space. MHC is looking for background actors with open availability between the beginning of April and mid May. The film is seeking Caucasian males in their 20s to 40s to play recurring NASA scientists and employees. Background actors and talent applying for the recurring roles must be able to work almost daily in April and May. The actual filming dates are listed below in the casting notice. This is a period film and actors / extras submitting for the open roles must have natural looks that can easily fit into the 50s and 60s. Talent cast for the roles must also be open for getting a 50s style haircut.

The FOX  studios movie focuses on the space race of the 50s and the African American scientists who worked behind the scenes to launch the first American into orbit. The movie currently being called  “Hidden Figures” (AKA “To The Moon and Back“) is based on Margot Lee Shetterly’s book “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race.”  The movie adaptation focuses on African American mathematician, Katherine Johnson.  Taraji P. Henson is set to play the scientist. Tariji recently got a Golden Globe for her work as Cookie on the FOX hit TV series, “Empire.”

“Hidden Figures” will focus on Johnson, who along with her colleagues Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson, served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history, John Glenn’s historic launch into space. The three women crossed all gender, race and professional lines while embarking on the mission. John Glenn flew the Friendship 7 mission in 1962 which was the fist mission to successfully orbit the Earth and return home safely.

We are currently accepting submissions for CAUCASIAN MALES in their mid 20’s to mid 40’s between 5’5 and 6’1 tall. You MUST be available to work MULTIPLE DATES throughout April and May.

You should have FULL OPEN AVAILABILITY to work on these dates, but having full open availability does not guarantee that you will work all of the dates listed. As a requirement, Production is asking that all men be willing to work clean shaven. For some of the dates, (April 18th, 19th, and 20th) we will be filming on an active military base and will require an employment background check for anyone who works those dates. You will be provided with a badge on the day of work and will need to arrive with your identification to show the officer/security to retrieve your badge. These are the only day that the core NASA group will film on the base. If you have availability for these dates when you submit, please state in your submission and we will provide you with the appropriate paperwork. The clearance check must be submitted by no later than close of business tomorrow (8:00 PM).
