    URGENT: SCAM PROJECT

    To whom it may concern,

I am messaging regarding a casting I saw on this website for a project posted by Kevin P. King called ‘Casting “Freedom Summer” in Durham, NC.’ I am part of the cast who worked on the project in LA (it is a touring production) and I want to let you know that this project is a complete and absolute SCAM. Alan Marshall, who runs the project remotely (civilrightsartsproject . com) hires cast members all across the US and after the productions, he disappears, cuts of all contact with the cast for that state and does NOT PAY them. This has happened in every city the project has been run in and nobody has sued because it is such a low budget production (usually around $250 per actor- which adds up to a lot for Mr. Marshall as he pays no one), that it would not be worth the legal costs for individual actors involved to file lawsuits.

Please could you take off this casting and post a warning on this site? I would hate to see even more actors like myself fall victim to this horrible scam for what is disguised as a worthy project. We are now doing everything we can to publicise this and raise awareness. If you would like further evidence of this, I can forward you correspondence on the matter and get statements from other actor who have been scammed doing this project.

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards,
    Lolia Etomi

Don’t submit to this! I along with some other actors did this in Minneapolis MN with the same person, Alan Marshall. We did the show, he promised us all stipends, but then after the show he disappeared without even a phone call or an e-mail without paying us our stipends. THIS WAS A YEAR AGO. I tried contacting him again this week using the e-mail address listed and he has yet to get back to me. There are other actors who can verify this happened and anyone who has agreed or submitted to this should refuse to do this until he pays the stipend he owes and ask for a written contract.

        Hi Alan,

Would you mind messaging me about this? I am trying to compile witness statements from all the cast members across the country Alan Marshall has scammed like this and bring a huge case against him + publicise this.

I, along with 2 other actresses, was scammed by him in February. We did a production in Philadelphia and it was terrible. He just completely disappeared on us and won’t answer any of our calls.
