Extras Wanted for Octavia Spencer / Tariji P. Henson Movie “Hidden Figures” in ATL

New casting call for the upcoming movie “Hidden Figures” which stars Tariji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Kirsten Dunst and Kevin Costner.

The film is a period piece set in the 50s and 60s. Casing directors at Marinella Hume are looking for Atlanta Georgia locals who are able to look like they fit right in during that time period.  The casting team for the movie is looking for  locals who would like to work as paid movie extras and there is a casting call out for core extras to play NASA Scientists. The casting notice calls for Caucasian men between the ages of 21 – 40 and core groups of women.  Since this is a period piece, everyone cast will required to attend a costume fitting. There is also a call out for African American swing dancers that will appear in a scene with the main cast. There are separate casting notices below. Please be sure that you are using the correct email and subject line for the roles you are submitting for.

The scenes will be filming later this month with a paid fitting required for the scenes. Talent applying must have a natural, 50s or 60s look and must be willing to get a 50s style haircut.

“Hidden Figures” will focus on Johnson, who along with her colleagues Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson, served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history, John Glenn’s historic launch into space. The three women crossed all gender, race and professional lines while embarking on the mission. John Glenn flew the Friendship 7 mission in 1962 which was the fist mission to successfully orbit the Earth and return home safely. According to the upcoming film’s IMDB page, “Hidden Figures” will also star Kirsten Dunst, Kevin Costner, Mahershala Ali and Octavia Spencer.

The FOX  studios movie, “Hidden Figures” (AKA “To The Moon and Back“) is based on Margot Lee Shetterly’s book “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race.”  The movie adaptation focuses on African American mathematician, Katherine Johnson.  Taraji P. Henson is set to play the scientist. Tariji recently got a Golden Globe for her work as Cookie on the FOX hit TV series, “Empire.”
