The FX comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll is filming season 2 in the NYC area and has a casting call out for NYC locals to play music fans.
GWC in New York is looking for hip, cool, rock fans ages 18 to 30s of all ethnicities to work as background actors in a Brooklyn concert / nigh club scene that will be filming next week in Brooklyn. Last fall, FX made the announcement that Denis Leary’s “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” will be renewed for a second season and season 2 is now in production.
According to a story in Variety, the announcement came Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming at FX Network. The announcement also quoted the network execs as saying “We are thrilled with ‘Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll’ and it proved to be one of the highest-rated new comedies on cable this year,” adding, “We thank Denis and the rest of the cast, along with Jim Serpico and Tom Sellitti, for a terrific first season and look forward to indulging in more ‘Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll’ in season two.”
The series is created by Dennis Leary who also serves as writer, composer, director and executive producer. Leary Executive produces the show along with Jim Serpico. The FX series is focuses on rock band, The Heathens. The band falls right into the rock and roll stereotype and parties hard. Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll centers on “Johnny Rock” played by Denis Leary. Johnny is the lead singer of the early 90’s band and they are well known and legendary, not just for the music, but the Rock & Roll lifestyle…. They party so hard that even Keith Richards thought they needed to slow things down.
The Heathens were on the brink of becoming famous and released their first album which was expected to elevate their status to rock gods when lead guitarist Flash, played by John Corbett, found Johnny in bed with his wife. The band broke up and they became legendary for for the break up. 25 years later, the only thing bigger than Johnny’s ego is his prostate. The drugs he really needs now aren’t cocaine and marijuana – they’re Crestor, Cymbalta and Cialis. He’s out of work, out of money and out of show business options. But then something happens…. a very talented young singer comes into his life that may give his career another chance. Gigi want to get the band back on track. The catch? Gigi wants the spotlight to herself leaving Johnny in the background.
