Casting For Indie Film “Darkness Has Covered My Light”

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Type: Film

We are looking for dedicated and reliable actors and actresses who want success. We are casting for our new indie film and are looking for the right people to be part of our project.

Our goal is simple, make an independent film we can submit to and win film festivals to establish ourselves in a big way. Alright, its not so simple, but it is quite possible with the right cast added to the amazing crew we are putting together. Anyone can act to an extent. I need people who can convince an audience that they are someone else in the film, people the audience can get attached to. We will be shooting in northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, Chicago and possibly Milwaukee so you need to have reliable transportation. We are looking for people in these areas.

We are looking for a team players, people who will be fully committed to this project. We need dedicated people who will do what is necessary to ensure its success. I cannot have someone who is only partially involved or whose only role is to show up and act, I need people who will truly be involved whether its a recording session, a promotional event, a fundraiser, someone who will help with every aspect from start to finish. I can do a lot, but I cannot do everything. I want people who want to help and be involved.

Who are we? We are a film making group who started off making comedy short films and webisodes. I have made two feature films now, one in each of the past two years, and I have more planned. I am tired of being the unknown film maker and I am ready to take this to the next level, the question is who is going to do it with me?

Its going to be a challenge, a lot of work, a lot of pushing, even hell at times, but once we finish and once we have an amazing film to show for it, there are rewards far more amazing then whatever obstacles we overcame to get there. This is a chance to be part of something that could be big.

While I list this as a non-paying gig, with all the work that will be expected, a percentage of any profit made on the film will go to you. This means we are all responsible for the success and how far we take it. We are attached to this. Where we go is on us. We will be shooting February 22 and through March, 3-4 times a week. We will have a read through the week prior to shooting. Availability is important.

Are you someone up for this challenge? Do you want to take a real chance that may pay off? If you are up for this opportunity, please forward us your resume, head shots and any links of work you have if applicable. This is what we are looking for. Please submit who you would be interested in. We will contact those we are interested in and ask for video auditions. You can check us out at www.facebook.com/PulpProductionsFilms. We are looking to fill roles by February 15, 2016.

Savannah Holloway is the lead character of this film. She is a southern girl from Alabama. She is a girl that has been through a lot, witnessed a devastating event that changed her life and has been in a depression ever since. At the beginning, it almost seems as she gave up on life, hides at home, has to be forced to go out, seems bitter, but as the story goes she evolves and begins to sing and becomes part of a band and someone that loves the attention, but she stays emotionally detached from others while being insecure and emotionally stressed and falls into a dark place with drugs. She is a singer so we would like to find someone who can sing for the role as we are recording several original songs for the film. She always wears bright red lipstick, she dances when she sings, she will be a challenging role to play. She is in her early 20s. Whether she is happy, sad, angry, whatever, the audience must feel her emotion, must feel for her. This is a complex character. She is a free spirit, a singer, the dream girl, the girl who falls, the girl who breaks, the girl who gets up, she is so much. This story is a tragedy more then anything. She has to be strong in her abilities. I would like someone who can sing as well (rock and roll not like Christina Agulara) but that’s not a necessity, just something that would help and make the character even better, the character is the lead singer of a band. This film has a lot of inspirations, Sid and Nancy, The Doors, Almost Famous and Trainspotting to name a few.

  • Brett Nelson is the guitar/bass in the band and is a supporting role. He is a trouble maker, likes to say things that upset people. He is jealous person and creepy at times. He will hit on anything that moves. Drug addict. He has a terrible temperament and is not to be trusted. Forces himself on people, the guy that won’t leave and won’t shut up and always has to one up people with obvious exaggerated stories. He can never keep his mouth shut. There is a great effects scene that goes with him. He is in his early thirties.
  • Lee Monroe is the drummer of the band and is a supporting role. He is an extremely relaxed guy, always stoned and he always chews gum. He always has drum sticks. He is an airhead, he only cares about the music, doesn’t get involved in the drama at all. He is in his mid 20s.
  • Raven Briggs is Savannah’s best friend and is a supporting role. She is the ultimate party girl, everyone knows her everywhere she goes, she’s that hugging girl, the one who gets the attention and craves it. She’s promiscuous, she is that one to always pressure someone to do something, she is a brat and always gets her way, but she knows her limits. She is in her early 20s.
  • Grant Webb is Savannah’s ex and is a supporting role. He is a standard trendy guy, a bit buff, who is into the party scene. He’s a DJ. He is a really good guy. He is caring, everyone loves the guy. He is in his mid to late 20s.
  • Marcus Fisher is a representative for bands and is a supporting role. He starts off as a nice sounding guy but is a slime ball. He is manipulative and out to make money for himself and do what he wants. He is in his 30s to 50s.
  • Vic is one of the bigger drug dealers in the area and is a supporting role. He’s a big and strong guy most people are afraid of. He is in his 20’s to 40s.
  • Floyd Bradford is a supporting role who is a drug dealer. He can get anything at any time though he is not to be trusted. He works for Vic.
  • Jen is a minor role and is the girl that hangs around Vic for free drugs.
  • Matt is a minor role. He is a gunman for Vic. He is in his 20s-40s.
  • Allen is a minor role. He is kind of a dufus. He is one of Vic’s gang.
  • DJ Dance Machine is a supporting role. He is super quiet, scary looking but extremely funky completely contradicting his personality. All he cares about is music. He is focused and can be wise when asked for advise.
