Extras casting call in New York
The upcoming Netflix music oriented drama “The Get Down” is in production in the NYC area and looking to cast some locals with 70’s dos to work as paid extras in an upcoming scene.
The show is created by Baz Luhrmann and produced by Sony Pictures. “The Get Down” is filming 13 episodes for season 1 which premiered on Netflix this past August 2016.
“The Get Down” is set in struggling New York City during the 70s. The new series is described as a music oriented drama and focuses on the early days of hip hop and punk rock music during a time when NYC was plagued with poverty, violence and urban decay. The new show will also showcase iconic NYC music venues, CBGB and Studio 54.
“The Get Down“ stars Justice Smith (“Paper Towns“), Herizen Guardiola, Shameik Moore, Skylan Brooks, T.J. Brown Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Mamoudou Athie, Jimmy Smits and Giancarlo Esposito. Will Smith’s son, Jaden Smith, also has a recurring role in the show. Luhrman is best known for his films “Moulin Rouge,” and “The Great Gatsby”.
NYC area extras casting directors at GWC are now accepting submissions for the small roles. This is filming in NYC and extras applying for the roles must be local to the New York area in order to be considered.
