Online Worldwide Video Auditions for lead, speaking role in upcoming movie “Bagman”
21 Laps Entertainment (Real Steel, Night at the Museum) and casting director Rory Bergman have launched an online talent search and open video auditions for a child actor to play the role of Eli, an African American, 12 to 13 year old boy who gets involved in a botched heist along with his ex-con older brother. Eli is described as an “old soul,” an African American boy who gets adopted by a Caucasian family in a working class Detroit neighborhood. Eli is quiet and observes the world with tremendous insight. He is a bit of a loner, preferring instead to explore the world on his own terms rather than hang with kids his own age.
The project is being directed by twin brothers Jonathan and Josh Baker and is inspired by their 2014 short film of the same name and written by Daniel Casey.
BAG MAN is the understated story of a 12 year old African American boy, who takes us on an introspective journey out of the city and into the remote countryside of upstate New York. With a mysterious duffel bag in hand, its contents unknown to us, we journey from the urban hustle of Harlem, into the winter-ravaged woodlands a world away. On the road, we slowly discover his real intentions, and the startling significance of what is hidden inside a young boy’s bag.
Casting directors are now accepting online submissions for African American boys who can play 12 to 13 years of age. The project is being cast through the cast it system and the production has created a webpage where talent are able to download the script / sides and upload their video auditions for consideration. Please see this page for the details.
