Call for Actor Submissions: HAMLET

THE SHAKESPEARE ENSEMBLE COMPANY is seeking submissions for the following production:

HAMLET
Deconstructed, Re-imagined, and Reconstructed

Based on Hamlet by William Shakespeare
Adapted and Directed by David Alberts
PERFORMANCE DATES: July 15-16, 22-23 at Project Space @ Horton Plaza
Other performances possible.

We’re looking for unconventional, fearless, fiercely intelligent, self-disciplined, physically fit San Diego area actors, ages 20-50. Previous experience acting Shakespeare is not necessary.

THE SHAKESPEARE ENSEMBLE COMPANY performs edgy, minimalist, small-cast adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays. This is not your usual Shakespeare.

Roles available:

HAMLET
HORATIO, doubling LAERTES, ROSENCRANTZ, LUCIANUS
KING (Claudius), doubling GHOST OF HAMLET’S FATHER
POLONIUS, doubling GRAVEDIGGER, PLAYER KING

Female roles have been cast.

In your email, please include your age, height, and weight, if not listed on your resume, as well as your availability for rehearsals in May/June/July. Deadline for submissions is April 1. Interview/audition by invitation on an individual basis. There will be small-group callbacks. Readings from the play. Rehearsals will begin in May.

THE SHAKESPEARE ENSEMBLE COMPANY is non-Equity. Actors will be paid a small stipend,
