Casting for “Candy Town,” a clown-faced musical act, playing original material which draws stylistically from Kurt Weill, Tom Waits, and the Beatles. The presentation is very theatrical, with elements of vaudeville and burlesque. The group has been around for five years, playing various clubs, theaters, festivals, and galleries, building a little following as we go.
We’re looking for a female singer. . .most important is experience with choral parts (in choral groups or musicals), as the harmonic lines can get complex in this material. A nimble, precise sense of rhythm is also important. . .as is theatrical experience, since the performances are highly stylized and usually choreographed.
