Miss Julie, a modern adaptation
Location: Saint Paul, MN
Type: Theater
OPEN AUDITIONS FOR MODERN ADAPTATION OF STRINDBERGS MISS JULIE at The Bedlam Theatre in Lowertown, November 18-20.
Seeking
*One Hispanic male, playing age 20-30
*One African-American female, playing age 20-30
The show, Miss Julie, was originally set in Sweden in the 1880’s, but we are setting it in America in the 1980’s. It is public domain, so the script is available online (keep in mind that ours will be a modern adaptation, this is just to give you an idea of the plot and themes).
Our rehearsals will begin almost immediately- mostly late afternoon/early evening in Saint Paul, with a few Saturday rehearsals as well. Because of the very small cast we will be somewhat flexible with the schedule. Our lead actress is currently a student, so we are already working around her classes.I am currently revising the adaptation, but will have sides for you to read from by Saturday (hopefully can email them to everyone Friday night so you can get a preview), no monologue is required, but if you have one ready, I’d love to hear it. Please bring a resume and headshot if you have them, as well as a list of conflicts if applicable.
Audition slots are available in half hour increments from Noon-4 on Saturday, October 8. The audition will be at the 262 Artists Studios in Lowertown, Suite 503. Someone will be available to let you in.
Please email stpblackcat@gmail.com to give your preferred times (give at least 3) for Saturday. Thank you- and break a leg!
