Bare Bones Shakespeare will be holding general auditions for its 2017-18 Season.

Auditions are by appointment only. Please send a headshot and resume, along with your preferred audition date and time to barebonesshakespeare@gmail.com

Prepare 10-20 lines of a memorized monologue (preferably in verse). Our auditions are done in hour blocks, so be prepared to stay the full hour. Come dressed to move, bring a bottle of water and a list of any conflicts.

The 2017-18 season will include the following shows:
We Wish You a Merry Wives of Windsor: The notoriously fat, drunken, and lecherous Sir John Falstaff arrives in the town of Windsor short on cash, and decides to earn some money by seducing two different married women simultaneously. These two “Merry Wives” discover their mutual wooer, and decide to play into his advances so they can ridicule him, and hi-jinks ensue. Also it just happens to be the holiday season, and the fat knight happens to bear a striking resemblance to a certain jolly old elf in a red suit.

What follows is a series of bloody events featuring treason, rape, mutilation, murder, and eventually cannibalism that makes up what is believed to be Shakespeare’s very first tragedy. Bare Bones’ production will be set in an 80’s glam rock universe where even the most horrific acts of violence will be considered “totally rad man.”

All actors in BBS shows will receive compensation based on profit sharing, meaning the more come see the show, the more you get paid. Many of the shows in the upcoming season will be done in the patented Company Directed style which is based on Shakespeare’s actual rehearsal process. As per the style, the rehearsal process will consist of three rehearsals per show, followed by an extended period of no rehearsals for line memorization, and tech week. There will be no director except for the actors who will direct each other. All actors will play multiple characters, and gender swapping will be frequent.
