WOMAN (lead):
She’s a people pleaser. She changes the way she acts depending on who she’s around. She needs to be liked. She loves to party. She won’t speak up for herself. She didn’t say anything when her friend was too drunk to drive. Now she’s in purgatory- and she’ll learn to stand up for herself.
MAN (lead):
He’s driven- he has tunnel vision. He was only focused on success. He had no real friends. Instead of friends he had goals. During his daily run he was hit by a drunk driver. Now he wanders purgatory looking for an exit. When he begins to forge a connection with the Woman, he starts to regret his priorities.
GUY (supporting):
He’s timid, lonely, desperate. He doesn’t feel quite up to par. In purgatory he forces himself to seem good-natured- despite the fact that he killed himself.
ELDERLY WOMAN (supporting):
She’s a free spirit imbued with guilt by her late mother. In purgatory, she realizes that the guilt is pointless.
This role should be taken seriously. However, this role provides comedic relief.
