Area Talent Sought for New Country Musical

The producers of “Letter to Me,” a new musical based on the songs of Brad Paisley, are looking for regional talent to join this world-premiere production slated for September at Wheeling’s historic Capitol Theatre.
Auditions will be held at the Stifel Fine Arts Center, 1330 National Road, Wheeling, W.Va., Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8 am to 6 pm; Sunday, Feb. 26 from 12 pm to 6 pm; Monday, Feb. 27 from 9 am to 2 pm; and Tuesday, Feb. 28, 9 am to 9 pm.

“Letter to Me” tells the fictional story of a young singer-songwriter who has to choose between his dreams of stardom in Nashville and the girl of his dreams in his hometown. The production is being directed by LA-based director/actor Demetrius Navarro and produced by Brentwood Avenue Entertainment.

Those auditioning are asked to come with a headshot, acting resume and a song. No accompaniment will be provided. Scenes from the musical will be available prior to the audition.   • TUCKER DAVIS — 17, an aspiring country singer, earnest, a good boy
  • LISA MASTERS — 17, a sweet but headstrong girl from a prominent family
  • CHESTER “CHEWY” DEPEW — 18, Tucker’s comical best friend, short heavyset, geeky
  • GRANDPA WOODS — 60s, Tucker’s no-nonsense granddaddy, not one to joke – but give direct advice
  • CAROL DAVIS — late 40s, Tucker’s strong mother who has experienced loss, but still smiles through it all
  • LEE DAVIS — late 40s, Tucker’s dad who remains optimistic and encouraging
  • FRANKLIN MASTERS — early 50s, Lisa’s rich father, snobby businessman
  • DAISY MASTERS — late 40s, Lisa’s sweet, yet daft mother
  • HANK GRUNDY — late 60s, a fun good ol’ boy and leader of a local Honky-Tonk band
  • CASSIE JO CAMPBELL — 19, a Nashville country music sensation with the pipes of Carrie Underwood and the presence of Taylor Swift
  • BETSEY GOWERS– 17, Lisa’s snarky best friend, very tall/bigger-boned girl
  • DENNY SMITH — 18, Lisa’s jock ex-boyfriend … handsome, polite, the “perfect” young man
