Aloha all! I’m a film student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa currently producing a short film this semester called Hele Kalei, which is about a self-conscious taiko drummer’s (somewhat delayed) coming-of-age journey.
We have just started casting on Oahu, and would appreciate any help we can get in spreading the word! Please note that this is a non-paying student film; meals, credit, and a copy of the film will be provided.
Main Characters:
Kalei (20s) – Self-conscious taiko drummer.
Janis (40s) – Kalei’s overbearing mother.
Supporting Characters:
Charlie (20s) – Kalei’s taiko buddy.
Emma (20s) – Local Hawaiian woman.
Kasey (2-5) – Emma’s daughter.
Man (20s) – Passing hipster.
