Performances May 5-20; Previews May 1-4

All auditions, rehearsals & performances at GPAC, 650 Portland Ave, Rollinsford, NH

Auditions will include readings from the script. Short monologues are welcomed but not required. Please bring headshot and resume if you have them.
Walk-ins welcome.

Inherit the Wind

Characters:

  • Matthew Harrison Brady – lead role, lead prosecutor in trial, famous Presidential candidate, 60ish
  • Bertram Cates – 25-30 man – defendant in trial
  • Rachel Brown – 20-30 woman – girlfriend of Cates, daughter of minister, witness in trial
  • Reverend Brown – 45-60 man – fiery minister, opposed to Cates, “villain” of play
  • E. K. Hornbeck – 35-50 – journalist, acts as Greek chorus on action, speaks mostly in free verse
  • Mrs. Brady – 50-60 woman – supportive wife of Brady
  • Howard Blair – 13-15 man – high school student, witness in trial
  • Melinda Loomis – 10-12 – typical young girl
  • Meeker – male, any age – court clerk, jailer, bailiff
  • Tom Davenport – district attorney – assists in the prosecution
  • Judge – 50+ – presides over trial
  • Mayor – male, any age – gives welcoming speech for Brady

Approximately 15 other roles: townspeople, spectators, scientists, vendors, etc. – men and women

We are also looking for anyone who has a lead on a trained monkey.
