Be in a movie! Open call for “Daddy’s Home 2”
If you live in the Boston area, you have a great chance at getting into the “Daddy’s Home” sequel because an open casting call is coming up for talent ages 7+ who would love to work as a paid movie extra.
Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are teaming up again and are reprising their roles as Brad Whitaker and Dusty Mayron in the sequel to the box office hit “Daddy’s Home.” Also returning for the sequel are the original writers of “Daddy’s Home,” Sean Anders and John Morris. Ferrell and Wahlberg proved to be a great comedic duo and the film “Daddy’s Home” went on to make over $240 million at the box office.
The comedy focused on a nice guy / bad boy theme between dad and step-dad. Will Ferrell plays the “nice guy,” a mild-mannered radio executive who has been trying very hard to be the best step dad… ever, to his wife’s 2 kids from a previous relationship. His life turns upside down when the kid’s “bad boy” biological father comes into the picture. Mark Wahlberg plays a biker, tough guy who so far has been a freeloading father who hasn’t been in their lives much. Both men engage in a war of wits as they try to out maneuver each other in hopes of getting the affection of the kids.
In the original 2015 “Daddy’s Home“, the pair found themselves at odds but ended up good friends by the end of the movie. In the sequel, Brad and Dusty will find themselves taking on another generation, their intrusive fathers. Mel Gibson and John Lithgow will be playing the fathers. While not much is known about the plot, we do know that the film is set at Christmas time.
According to THR, Paramount Pictures will be releasing the movie in November 2017. The original “Daddy’s Home” opened on Christmas day in 2015 where it went head to head with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The release date for the sequel is November 10th and this year it will be competing against Fox’s Francis Lawrence thriller “Red Sparrow” and Sony’s animated film “The Star.” “Daddy’s Home 2” is being produced by Gary Sanchez Productions, Paramount Pictures and Red Granite Pictures among others.
