Open casting calls for Jerry Bruckheimer’s film “Horse Soldiers” scheduled for this month.
The movie recently held open casting calls in Albuquerque and Socorro, New Mexico where the project is filming. The film is still in need of more background actors and those that missed the open call can still land a small role as casting directors are still taking submissions for their immediate casting needs.
According to Deadline, Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Lone Ranger, Top Gun) is producing under Jerry Bruckheimer Films along with Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill of Black Label Media. “Horse Soldiers” is an adaptation of Doug Stanton’s book, “Horse Soldiers: The Extraordinary Story of a Band of US Soldiers Who Rode to Victory in Afghanistan.” Peter Craig and Ted Tally are credited as writers. The film’s IMDB page states that Chris Hemsworth, Michael Peña and Michael Shannon are set to star and filming will begin shortly in parts of New Mexico.
“Horse Soldiers” focuses on a team of CIA agents and special forces soldiers who headed out into Afghanistan following the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US. The special team’s mission was to to dismantle the Taliban. “Horse Soldiers” is based on the true story of U.S. soldiers who were tasked with finding and fighting a Northern Alliance warlord in an attempt to weaken and drive out the Taliban. The team had to overcome great odds and treacherous conditions as they made their way through rugged mountainous region of Afghanistan just weeks after the September 11th attack.
