Oxford Renaissance Festival
Location: London, ON
Type: General Performers
The Oxford Renaissance Festival is looking for energetic individuals (aged 16+) to join our “house cast” to populate the Renaissance Festival for the weekend of June 24 & 25th, 2017, in Dorchester, Ontario. This is your chance to “play all day” with us – brush up on your improv acting skills, learn renaissance mannerisms, interact with festival attenders, and add to the ambiance of the festival. Training and character development will take place at rehearsals.
Open Auditions have already been held, however we are still seeking a few MEN to fill the role of a courtier or a university student.
We are now arranging some “Skype” auditions to fill the last couple of roles.
Please prepare 30 – 120 seconds of something that highlights your skills / abilities – you can sing (a Capella) , juggle, recite a poem, read from a scroll, etc. – we’re not picky, but want to see what you can do – Medieval / Renaissance material preferred. Be prepared to participate in a few solo / group activities to show your improv abilities, and plan a one on one interaction with the Queen.
Please note that actors are responsible for providing their own historically accurate(ish) costuming, subject to approval. Costuming workshops will be available “at cost” to actors or their designated costume creator. Costumes are not required for auditions – but if you have your own costume, a photo of it (preferably with you in it) would be lovely. Help with costuming is definitely available.
Some positions will earn a $50 honorarium, many volunteer cast positions also available.
Rehearsals will occur every other Saturday Afternoon, beginning April 1st, in London, ON.
