Attention All actors and singers. We will have a casting call audition for all actors and singers in the Dallas, TX area for the stage play “Choose”. Serious actors and singers only. This is a faith based stage play. Practices will be held in Cedar Hill, TX. Must have reliable transportation to practice.
Synopsis: A pop/R&B singer who is addicted to drugs blames her mother for her ruthless behavior. 5 teenage boys decide to go on a joy ride only to have their world turned upside down. An elderly couple celebrating over 60 years of marriage reflect on how they were able to make it this far. A singer father is resentful toward God and often times will take it out on his daughter. What do all of these stories have in common? They all have to “Choose.”
All roles are non paid only; non sag members. Meals will be provided at all practices and performances. Hotel and travel will be provided during the weekend of the performance which is September 22nd – September 24th.
The following roles are available:
1 female pop/R&B singer/actor – All ethnicities are welcome to audition – ages 20-30 – hugely successful singer who commands the stage as soon as she takes the mic. Also emotional, suicidal; drug addiction. Must be able to cry on queue.
1 African American teenage boy (actor/non singing role) – attempts to save the lives of his friends as they head toward a path of darkness – must be able to cry on queue ages 14-19
4 teenage boys (actor/Non singing role) All ethnicities are welcome to audition – ages 14-19 – one class clown, one class president, one who insists on being a follower, one who is quiet and doesn’t say much.
1 African American male (actor/singing) – ages 30-45 – Single father of a teenage boy who teaches his son how to walk away from peer pressure and keep God first.
1 African American elderly woman (actor/non singing role, must learn some choreography) – funny, sense of humor, ages 30+
1 African American elderly man (actor/Non singing role, must learn some choreography) funny, sense of humor- ages 30+
1 African American Male (actor/Singing role, must learn some light choreography) – resentful towards God because of his recent loss – ages 30+
1 African American female (actor/singing role/modern dance) – strong singer, tries to convince her father that Jesus can heal his broken heart – ages 10-18
1 Angel (actor/non singing role) all ethnicities are welcome to audition – ages 30+
Jesus (actor/beard preferred) – all ethnicities are welcome to audition – ages 30+
1 African American female – (actor/ non speaking role/modern dance role) – ages 30+
Crew roles are also available (non paid, non sag):
4 Production Assistant roles are available.
In need of professional Pop and R&B singers for sound track purposes.
Singers – Please come prepared to sing a one minute song of your choice. The casting panel may ask you to sing an additional song on the spot.
Actors – Please prepare a one minute monologue of your choice. You will be asked to do a cold read during the audition.
Dancers: Prepare one minute dance piece of your choice.
