Casting Notice
“A Single Man” Dinner Scene
Synopsis: “A Single Man” is a drama/ romantic movie. For an Acting and Directing course at my college, this piece is focused on the dinner scene between George and Charlotte. In it, George visits his former friend Charlotte moments after his attempted suicide. Charlotte was once a former lover of George and even in their 50’s she still longs after him. The two friends share stories of their past and reminiscing about their former relationships. The short is very dramatic and incorporates segments of nostalgia and manipulation between the two.
George Falconer: white male, age 40-50. George is a widower and is still hurt by the death of his lover Jim. He feels as if he has no reason to live anymore and would be on the brink of suicide if it wasn’t for his former lover and current friend, Charlotte. Enjoying her humorous company, she is one of the only reasons he gets out of bed in the morning.
Charlotte “Charley”: white female, age 40-50. Charlotte is the former lover and only friend of George. Her glory days are gone, but she can manage a striking appearance on good days which are few and far between. She is desperate for George and is trying to bring him down to her level in order to trap his love.
