Story: Smiling is contagious. They say that a smile and a power pose is all you need to invoke braveness. But what if you don’t need braveness? What if that fake smile, instead, gets you farther than ever from normality?
After a smiling man enters an old and corrupt factory and confronts it’s puppet of a leader, he unwittingly sets off a murderous revolution the likes of which has never been seen.

Roles:

[SEYMOUR]
Seymour is a 22 year old factory worker. Despite his grey situation in life, he chooses to see the good and miraculous parts of it all. Seymour is highly agreeable, bright, and cheery, perhaps because of his protective mother who shielded him from his abusive father and raised him alone with a public school. He was thrown into the world after his mother’s death with barely two cents of inheritance, after his father managed to take it all. He may seem happy, brave and heroic, but he is also naive, easy to break, and vulnerable. Seymour is willing to put others first, because he believes that doing good to others will bring good back to him. In the end, his apparent selfless acts are deeply selfish; there is a quiet cleverness in him, despite his naive views.

[JOHNSON]
Johnson is an uneducated man who’s father died in a drug deal gone wrong when he was a toddler. He was an outcast from childhood, unable to go to school and forced into child labor. He has worked in this factory for 25 years, and has developed a father-like relationship with his superior managers. He is an insecure egomaniac, who loves dominance and control, and projects his anger on his employees; he is like a cat who enjoys playing with his food.

[BERNARD]
Bernard is a shadowy fatherly manager who dominates JOHNSON through humiliation. He is powerful, stiff, calm and collected unless he is angered, in which case he will preserve respect from his employees above all else. In his eyes, the more submissive his workers, the harder they work and the more value per-capital they can provide.

[ABEL]
Abel is a quiet and introverted old man. He was left for dead by his family, and decide to prove his usefulness by getting hired in a factory. He is dedicated, impatient and extremely stubborn. He seeks to find a higher meaning in an otherwise meaningless life, and he finds that meaning in the ray of hope reflected by Seymour’s smile and character.

[PETER]
Depressed factory worker who learns to admire Seymour and sees Abel as a teacher.

[ROBERT]
Depressed factory worker who learns to admire Seymour and sees Abel as a teacher.
