Los Angeles/Orange County World Music Ensemble Auditioning for Lead Singers.
Mostly Kosher, a Los Angeles-based klezmer gypsy-rock band, is holding auditions for experienced lead singers/entertainers for the following:
CALIFORNIA DISNEYLAND PARKS
We have a two month contract to perform daily at the Disney California Adventure park in California. 2-3 vocalists will be contracted to sub in rotation for lead singer throughout the season. Rehearsals begin in October and performances begin November 8 to January 6. Performance days would consist of 6 twenty minute shows a day. Performance compensation $300/day
FLORIDA DISNEYWORLD PARKS
Mostly Kosher will also perform at the Disney Ecpot theme park in Orlando, Florida. Rehearsals begin in October in the Los Angeles area. Performances in Orlando, Florida will be on November 18 – December 30 at Epcot. Two vocalists will be cast and scheduled for 50% of the dates and must be available to sub for their counterpart, if necessary. Performance days would consist of 6 twenty minute shows a day. Performance compensation $280/day. Housing with private rooms and airfare provided.
Vocalists need to be available to arrive in Florida on Nov 15, and leave Dec 31 and STAY FOR THE DURATION OF THE RESIDENCY.
ABOUT MOSTLY KOSHER
Mostly Kosher, the acclaimed klezmer gypsy-rock band, radically reconstructs Judaic and American cultural musical roots through ravenous klezmer beats and arresting Yiddish refrains. Mostly Kosher is a musical feast that explodes into a global food-fight of Jazz, Latin, Rock, and Folk. The band has been invited for their third year performing as the first live Jewish music ensemble at the Disneyland Parks Resort. They were credited for “stealing the Festival of Holidays Show” by the popular Fresh Baked Disney podcast, and will be back at Disney for 2018-19 season, as well as returning for their second year at Disney World’s Epcot Center. SINGER REQUIREMENTS:
– Ability to sing diverse musical styles (classical, musical theater, jazz, rock etc) and learn diction/pronunciation for a variety of languages (Ladino, Yiddish, Hebrew)
– Must have strong musical and rhythmic sensibility (sight reading is a PLUS) with strong bandleading skills
– Excellent stage presence with high energy and strong acting and improvisational skills
– Experienced and comfortable in creating genuine connection with both large and intimate
audiences
– Collaborative spirit
– Dependability and availability
– Male range (A2 to G4) or Female range (A3 to G5)
– Familiarity with Jewish culture as well as languages a plus

For auditions, you will be asked to sight read and perform a piece from the band’s repertoire which will be provided prior to your audition. If you play an instrument as well, let us know in your audition submission. Please bring a hard copy of your headshot/resume to your audition.
Auditions will be held in Los Angeles Sept. 4 – 9 with callbacks the week following.
