Auditions for The Melting Pot

The Jewish Community Theater of Montgomery County (JCTMC) and The Temple Beth Ami (TBA) Players announce auditions for THE MELTING POT by Israel Zangwill, a 1908 play about anti-Semitism and anti-immigrant hatred.

Prepare a short dramatic or comedic monologue (1 minute or less)
Please bring a resume and any photo

Rehearsals:
Will be scheduled on Sundays and weeknights (Mon-Thurs) last two weeks of May through first two weeks of August (schedule will be based on cast availability)
At the North Potomac home of the director

Performances:
Saturday, August 11, at 8pm and Sunday, August 12, at 2pm
At Temple Beth Ami in Rockville

A multi-cultural cast is preferred. All performers are encouraged to audition for all parts. Many characters have specifc accents; please be prepared to demonstrate your ability with these. Also, three characters are musicians – David (violin), Mendel (piano), Vera (piano) – ability to play these or any musical instrument is a plus.

Mendel Quixano, age 40+ – Yiddish accent

Frau Quixano, age 50+ – Speaks Yiddish only (proficiency in Yiddish or German pronunciation required)

Kathleen O’Reilly, age 18+ – Irish accent

Quincy Davenport, Jr., age 18+

Baron Revendal, age 40+ – Russian accent

Baroness Revendal, age 18+ – Russian accent (also speaks a few lines of French)

Herr Pappelmeister, age 40+ – German accent
