A visual film, exploring small fragments of the subtle, direct, and beautiful experience of being black, and the perceptions that surround skin. Two humans sit before a mirror, as fragments revolving around self image connect them to others (although unique). These fragments include: a man messaging on a dating app questioning the skin tone of his emoji’s, and a woman standing as a glittered gold statue adjusting herself as she desires. No words or dialogue are needed.
Filming will begin on August 12, 2019 (Morning Availability)

A black man that has seen his reflection before, trifold. The reflection he sees, the reflection they see, and the reflection he wants to see. He recreates each of these perceptions as actions. (Ex: Man is flexing into mirror; Man puts on durag) (NOTE: This role requires a wide range of emotions and facial expressions such as: crying, yelling, laughing, etc.) *Acting experience preferred but not required**Partial nudity*
[Mirror Woman] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 21-30]
A black lady that has seen her reflection before, trifold. The reflection she sees, the reflection they see, and the reflection she wants to see. She recreates each of these perceptions as actions. Lays on couch messaging a potential fling on a “dating app” Not really looking for love but also doesn’t mind it. Doubt is not foreign to his face as he gains consciousness for the skin tone emoji he sends. *Acting experience preferred, but not required*
[SKIN Makeup Lady] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 21-30]
Makeup isn’t just a bunch of chemicals to her. Applying makeup is a dance, it’s a unique journey that is completely different every time. It is her art form. Each day, whether it is worn or not reflects her walk. This entire process is important. *No professional makeup experience needed, an interest at minimum *
[SKIN Lady Ballerina] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 21-30]
Her dance is free. It is hers. *No professional dancing experience needed, an interest at minimum *
[HAIR Multiple Miscellaneous Humans] [GENDER: ANY] [AGE: 21-30]
These humans have a real relationship with their hair and live their lives with it. (Ex. Painter painting, Human riding the bus)

She knows that she is powerful, her essence is devious, because SHE KNOWS. She stands still and upright as a spectacle. She knows of the power in “flaws” (forbidden knowledge). She adjusts her stillness and beauty however she pleases. Wars have occurred during these shifts. *Acting experience preferred but not required* *Partial nudity*
