THE SCENE:
A lame daytime bridal party at backyard poolside. Maybe some pink and white streamers, balloons, gifts. Guys standing around drinking from Solo cups. Women standing around drinking from wine glasses or flutes.
HERO ACTRESS:
An average 45 ish woman in the vein of Wendi McLendon-Covey. Possibly the aunt of the bride or bride’s mother’s friend. Not too beautiful or thin, maybe a bit too much makeup and big hair and some slightly tacky jewelry and clothing. Subtly comedic without trying to be.
SCRIPT: My friend’s daughter threw this lovely bridal shower, but after getting a cab home I couldn’t find my keys, so I go around back. But as I’m stuffing myself through the dog door I have this realization… I don’t have a dog.
For 30 ish man
NEW YEAR’S EVE HOUSE PARTY
THE SCENE:
A lame nighttime New Year’s eve party in a non-descript living room. People standing around drinking from Solo cups/wine glasses and flutes, trying to have a good time while waiting for midnight.
HERO ACTOR
An average, down-to-earth, 30ish man, not too handsome or fit. Maybe even a bit schlubby. Subtly comedic without trying to be. Will Ferrell or John C. Reilly type? Wearing a sweater, trying to look nice.
SCRIPT: Last New Year’s eve, we wanted to keep things low key, so we just invited few friends over. But the next thing you know I find my phone in the microwave covered in cheese and a burrito plugged into my charger.
