Auditions for “King Lear” in Baltimore

Auditions for title role in King Lear.

Location: Baltimore, MD

Baltimore Shakespeare Factory seeks actors for the title role in our 2020 Original Shakespeare Pronunciation production of King Lear (April 3-26, 2020).

Auditions will be held on Sunday, June 30 from 5–8 pm and on Monday, July 1 from 6-9 pm. at St. Mary’s Community Center, 3900 Roland Avenue, 21211.

Callbacks (if needed) will be held the following week.

This audition is ONLY for the role of King Lear– all other roles will be cast at a later date.

Seeking actors who can realistically portray 60+ years old. Performers of all gender identities and ethnicities are encouraged to submit. Stipend: $400.

For this audition, please come with a memorized speech spoken by Lear in the play (about 20 lines). Be prepared to deliver that monologue in your natural speaking voice and using the UK accent of your choice. You may also be asked to read sides from the play. These sides will be posted on our website at least one week prior to the auditions.
