Logline: Jamaica’s dream of making it out of the old neighborhood almost comes true when she obtains her law degree from Howard University. Her dream is deferred after her mother passes, leaving Jamaica in control of a pawn shop called Black Gold.
Jamaica: female, black (early 30’s) lead; budding attorney; expert at code switching; currently engaged, but has a soft spot for folks from her old neighborhood.
Malcolm: male, black (early 30’s); successful attorney; embodies ‘Black Excellence;’ engaged to Jamaica.
Pimp Pocket: male, black (early 30’s); dresses like a pimp, but is funny with a heart of gold; secretly in love with Jamaica.
