FAWN (20s, Indigenous) is the mother of Cody’s children, & his biggest fan. They have two kids, Spring & Autumn, who live with Fawn in her Grandmother’s house. Cody & Fawn were together formally for several years, but now their relationship has reached a comfortable, non-monogamous, co-parenting arrangement. Lately, however, Cody hasn’t been keeping up his end of the bargain, dodging child support. Still, Fawn sees the best in him, & encourages him to pursue his dreams — even if she secretly knows they’re stupid.
SELMA (55+, Indigenous) is Fawn’s Grandmother. She despises Cody with a passion. While her daughter is enamored, she sees Cody for the loser that he is, & tells him about it, constantly. If she had her way, Fawn would never see Cody again, but only because she cares so deeply about the well-being of her family. She spends most of her days at the kitchen table, watching soaps on a tiny TV. She’s gruff, rough, & foul-mouthed— she comes from a different era, when you could call someone whatever the hell you wanted.
