Call for LGBTQ+ Performers for Queer Arts Festival.

& PERFORMING ARTISTS 18+ (AND YOUTH ESSAY 16-21)
OUT LOUD: A Cultural Evolution will present the second annual LGBTQ+ arts festival in Long Beach, California, on June 29, 2019. To learn about last year’s festival, please visit http://www.outloudlb.com.
Anyone who self-identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community is invited to submit work for consideration in the following categories: Visual Art, Literary Art, Performing Art, or Youth Essay.
You must be available to physically attend the festival in Long Beach, Calif., on June 29, 2019. You do not have to reside in Long Beach, but all selected participants are responsible for their own travel costs to and from the festival.
We are looking for a diversity of mediums and perspectives, and want to showcase the best under the rainbow! We want you to talk to us. Tell us what you think, show us how you feel. Give us art that moves, challenges, inspires, and entertains.
The theme is: Queer Futures. If you’re not sure whether your work fits with the theme, send it to us anyway.
Our mission is to showcase the artistic & cultural contributions of the LGBTQ+ communities in Long Beach and beyond. We want this festival to highlight the lived experiences, struggles, joys, triumphs, and perspectives of all different types of queerness—through the power of art.
PERFORMING ARTS CALL:
You may submit up to 3 performance pieces in any of the following categories: Dance, Music, Comedy, Drama, Short Film, Music Video, or Other Performance.
Please submit as either a video file or link to YouTube or Vimeo, no longer than around 10-15 minutes.
If, however, you don’t have a video file for the specific performance you’d like to showcase, you can otherwise upload an audio file or a written description AND you must also upload a video of SOME KIND, even if it is a video from a cell phone introducing yourself and your performance. We want to know what you have in mind, and we want to see some kind of video. We may ask for an in-person performance/audition.
We will have two performance spaces: one at the Art Theatre main stage and one at the Hangout as a pop up performance showcase. You may choose whether to submit your work for consideration at one or both spaces, but will only be selected for one performance, not both. Acoustic sets or single mic preferred for the Hangout space.
If submitting video files, please submit each file separately. Please label each file like this: “FirstName-LastName-Title-Medium.” For example, “Jane-Doe-MyDance-Dance.”
Please also include some sort of stage plot outlining your stage requirements, including audio and video needs.
Upon submission of application, Applicant acknowledges and agrees that their submission(s) to the OUT LOUD 2019 festival shall be deemed an agreement by the Applicant to the Terms and Conditions.
