PLOT SYNOPSIS:
Casting the leading role, “Shane”, in the 15 minute short film “The Shadow of Death” being produced by DonnyGrimm Productions as a submission to the 2020 Filmed In Dallas Film Competition.
“The Shadow of Death” is a 15-minute short film that is one-part true story & one-part supernatural horror. This film tells the story of a vibrant and daring young man, Shane, who loves to live on the edge. All of that changes when hi near-death-experiences bring him face to face with Death. Shane bargains his soul in exchange for more time on earth, but afterward his carefree spirit is compromised as Death begins haunting him. Shane begins struggling against his own descent into madness as he realizes with increasing certainty that the price of his deal with Death won’t be his own soul but the soul of his son, Donny. Will Shane find a way to rescue Donny’s soul before death comes to collect? Or will his increasing paranoia, fear and panic get the best of him before he has the chance?
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:
SHANE – (LEADING ROLE-PAID) – Caucasian, 35-50 yrs old, any hair color but red & grey is fine– including bald men. Shane has a fun-loving, larger-than-life personality. He’s a risk taker with a heart of gold—the type of person that can light up a room with natural charisma. A fire fighter by profession, he’s capable of heroic & selfless acts.However, Shane also has a darker side— and as the story progresses he alternates between being a fun-loving dad who parties with his kids to being a more angry, aggressive & judgmental father who condemns his son’s wild behavior out of fear for his soul.
COMPENSATION:
For the lead role of Shane, pay will be $50 per every full-day (6-8 hrs) of shooting until we reach $450, which is the maximum we can pay for the role. We anticipate shooting the majority of Shane’s scenes across 6-8 days of filming (approximately 6 hours each) & 3-4 evening shoots for short periods of 1-2 hrs. PLEASE NOTE Once we’ve paid out $450 (8 days of shooting + 4 evening shoots of 1-2 hrs), we’ll be at our max budget, meaning there will be no additional compensation for make-up shoots or additional days of filming due to budget restrictions. However, a bonus is offered if the film wins any competition prizes when submitted to the 2020 Filmed in Dallas 2020 Competition! Other compensation includes Film Credits, Snacks/Beverages.
