This short film is entirely in Turkish. All talent cast must be fluent in Turkish.
[ÇIGDEM] 25 to 35 years old, female, Turkish, Part Kurdish. Staying with Nesibe and Samet in Turkey for a couple weeks. Getting her PhD in the U.S., writing her dissertation and teaching on the side. She is married to Selim. Must speak Fluent Turkish.
[SELIM] 28 to 38 years old, male, Turkish. Staying with Nesibe and Samet for a couple weeks. Selim is an independent documentary filmmaker living in the U.S. He is married to Cigdem. He and Cigdem are creating an academic film about minority groups in Turkey. Conducts the interview with Yusuf about how it feels to be African-Turkish. Must speak Fluent Turkish.
[NESIBE] 30 to 40 years old, female, Turkish, wearing a HEADSCARF. She is a congenial hostess and cares very much that her guests feel welcome and content. She tries very hard to keep everyone calm until she cannot anymore. She is married to Samet. Must speak Fluent Turkish.
[SAMET] 32 to 42 years old, male, Turkish. He is married to Nesibe. Nesibe refers to him as a doormat. He is friendly and wishes to keep all conversation amicable. He works in IT but recently lost his job. Must speak Fluent Turkish.
[BILAL] 34 to 40 years old, male, Turkish, Overweight. He runs his own small business. Hyper-critical and conservative, he is fairly closed-minded, but does not mean to offend anyone. Must speak Fluent Turkish.
[SÜMEYRA] 30 to 35 years old, female, Turkish. Traditional beliefs and proper manners, she is close friends with Nesibe and married to Bilal. Must speak Fluent Turkish.
Storyline: A gathering of three Turkish couples (one settled in the U.S.) at a dinner table, leads to a discussion on the notion of hospitality and racism within the framework of the current Syrian refugee crisis and Afro-Turks in Turkey. It has a similar tone to “Carnage”, “Beatriz at Dinner” and “4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days”.
