Masterpiece is one of 7 short films selected for the 2020 Maine Mayhem Film Festival. Films will be premiered on May 7, 2020, at the Nickolodeon Theater in Downtown Portland, Maine.
Masterpiece is the story of an artist struggling with the past. He feels responsible for his wife’s death, although he has been cleared of any wrongdoing, and cannot work. A new treatment inspires him to paint his masterpiece, but he becomes convinced that supernatural forces are at play.
Everett: Male 30-35. Everett, an established artist, is suffering from acute PTSD following the death of his wife. He is grief stricken and unable to find inspiration for his work. After he starts a new treatment prescribed by his psychologist, he finds inspiration. He begins to believe his wife is haunting him. He must find his sanity and let go of the past.
Nick: Male 35-40. Nick is Everett’s best friend. He is cocky and macho but really cares about Everett. He is trying to get Everett out of his slump and help him move on.

Experience is not required. If you think you have talent, come to the audition. You might be surprised.
This is a non-union, student film. The pay is the chance to appear on a real large screen in a real theater.
