Specifically Korean. Headstrong and always does what is best for the family business. Between him and his son, he is the one who care about the longterm. He believes Sungwoo has gone too far with his surveillance cameras and wants to downsize the business.
In this family-drama set amongst a paranoia-thriller backdrop, Sungwoo, a screenprinter, uses surveillance cameras to capture images of people in their most solitary moments to print onto graphic t-shirts. After an argument about the longevity of the business, his father, Jaemyung, walks out on him. After a night of photographing, Sungwoo reviews his footage and believes his surveillance cameras have accidentally captured a murder. He obsesses over the figure in the image : a man in a pinstripe suit. Returning to the same spot the next day, Sungwoo searches for Pinstripe, tailing a man in similar garb to no avail. After a dangerous run-in and and a ransacked studio he is left to collect his thoughts, realizing his true problem is the distractions he’s made to avoid reconciling with his father.
Thesis film. Chapman/ Dodge produces top quality production and directorial experience. Great character studies for anyone’ s reel.
